I ❤︎❤︎❤︎ Mother’s Day, maybe because I also ❤︎❤︎❤︎ my mama. ☺️ As kids, we weren’t the best Mother’s Day gift-givers. A panicked, oh-shoot-it’s-mothers-day-tomorrow-and-we-didn’t-get-mom-ANYTHING conversation usually turned into homemade cards, homemade coupons for vehicle cleaning and foot massages, and maybe breakfast made by us. Our lack of planning forced us to get creative (or be in the dog house ????) and make homemade, meaningful gifts. And our mama, she loved it all.
Looking back, I think she loved it all for 2 reasons, 1) the thought really does count and 2) her love language is very much “acts of service”. So here’s a list of meaningful Mother’s Day gift ideas for moms of all love languages.
Baked Goods – Make her a homemade pie or a fancy brunch.
Clean her Vehicle
Mulch her Flowerbeds
Sweep the Patio
Plant the flowers she recently bought at the garden center
Or, any other project! Ask if there’s a task around the house/farm she’s been dreading, and do it for her!
A Potted Plant – They last longer than cut flowers + brings happiness to the mom who has it all.
Lenny & Eva Bracelet – I’ve loved these since my friends over at Confessions of a Farm Wife talked about them. Shop their sentiments, find one that fits your mom to a T, and make it into a customized bracelet.
A Family Photo Session – I’ve never met a mom who didn’t like family photos. You just can’t go wrong here.
Spa Day/Pedicure – my mom got her first pedicure just a couple of years ago. Even though she’s a pretty low-maintenance woman, she loved it.
Pottery – there are pottery-painting shops popping up all over now. In case you’re not familiar, you pick out a piece of pottery, paint it, and then the shop fires it for you, leaving whatever you painted pretty and glossy. You don’t have to be artsy to do this. I can’t draw to save my life, but it’s pretty easy to paint a simple pattern on your piece!
Cooking Class – these are always so fun! It’s good quality time + learning a few handy tips and tricks in the kitchen + delicious food!
Flower Arranging Class – It’s like delivering flowers to mom, getting a bouquet for yourself, and spending quality time together!
Y’all. Just write her a nice, thoughtful note. This is the woman who wiped your bottom, made sure you were fed, clothed and loved you from the start. She did her very best for you. Tell her thanks. Hint: Use more words than just “thanks”. ????
Give her a hug. It’s also suggested you bring something else too. Refer to #1-3. ????
